Blue Penguin (book needed)

You are going to need the book 'Blue Penguin' by Petr Horacek for this session.

Blue Penguin isn’t like all the other penguins. Surprisingly enough, he’s blue! But he can still do all the things that other penguins can do. So is he still a penguin? Will he be able to fit in with all the others?

Task Questions:

• Is blue penguin really a penguin?
• Is blue penguin the same as the other penguins?
• Is blue penguin different from the other penguins?
• Can he be the same and different at the same time?
• Is it OK to be different?

Extension activity:

Fitting in/Standing out game: Take some objects of the same colour and shape. Explore if they are the same or different, and which one is the odd one out. Vary the objects, bringing in slightly different ones, and then very different ones. Then look at all the objects to see which ones CAN go together. And then look for odd ones out again.
